Description
GDC Tofflemire Matrix Retainer (MRTU) is a Universal matrix system used in Class II restorations. Its primary function is to restore anatomic proximal contours and contact areas, holding the matrix band securely in place as a temporary wall around the prepared tooth during restoration.
The retainer is made up of four parts: a U-shaped head with three slots or guides for locating the band, a locking vise (the sliding body that holds the band), a long knob that adjusts the diameter of the loop, and a short knob that secures the band in place within the sliding body.
Manufactured by GDC Fine Crafted Dental Pvt. Ltd. in India, the retainer is made of medical-grade stainless steel, is lightweight for reduced operator fatigue, and is corrosion-resistant and autoclavable for routine sterilization.
