Description
GDC Periotome #1 (P1) is a periodontal instrument designed to cut periodontal ligament fibres during tooth extraction. Its thin, sharp blade is intended to enter the periodontal ligament space and help separate the tooth from the surrounding tissues.
The instrument is designed for controlled periodontal ligament severing to support atraumatic tooth extraction and help reduce unnecessary trauma to the surrounding alveolar bone. The P1 is part of the GDC range of non-flexible periotomes and is available with a 5mm working blade.
Periotomes are commonly used by placing the blade into the sulcus and working around the tooth to sever the periodontal ligament before completing the extraction with suitable periodontal or extraction instruments.
